Jon Huertas is an actor who plays Detective Javier Esposito on Castle.
A native New Yorker, Huertas is of Colombian descent. Before becoming an actor he spent eight years in the US Air Force, and was involved in Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf in 1991. His first credited appearance was on the original Beverly Hills 90210 series. Huertas wrote, directed, executive produced and starred in the short film Lone. Joining him in the film was Arye Gross (Perlmutter from Castle). Huertas sits on the board of directors for Puppies Behind Bars, a charity where prison inmates train puppies for servicemen with PTSD and physical injuries. He is currently producing and recording a music album.
Post-Castle, Huertas has starred on the critically acclaimed series This Is Us and has turned to directing for television.
During the summer 2015 hiatus, Huertas and costar Seamus Dever created a music video for a song they wrote, "Definition of Love"[1], which is among the special features on the Castle Season 7 DVDs.
