Sustainable & Ethical fashion since 2009

Noorin Khamisani was born and raised in London in the UK. She graduated with a first class honours degree in Fashion Design. After graduation she worked with designers such as Ann-Sofie Back and Jessica Ogden in London and Susan Cianciolo in New York. Working with these avant-garde labels, which incorporated recycled garments and vintage fabrics, had a lasting influence on Noorin's aesthetic.

Noorin then worked for three larger fashion companies including Debenhams, Hobbs and Ted Baker. The combination of working with creative designers and her experiences in the mainstream fashion production/buying world led to a broad understanding of the industry and its impact on the environment.

Several years of researching sustainable fabrics and production methods, combined with not being able to find ethically produced garments she wanted to buy, inspired Noorin to start OUTSIDER in 2009. It's a fashion label which believes style and quality should be as important as ethical sourcing and production.

I’m Andrew Couldwell. I’m a designer who codes. I’ve worked internationally, in-house, and remotely on projects for leading brands, agencies, startups, and charities. I care deeply about creating world-class, useful, and beautiful products that help people and make a difference. I can be as involved in your project as you need me to be; from the seed of the idea, to sketches, creative direction, design, copywriting, system design, and even the front-end and WordPress build.

Experience

I spent the first decade of my career in design agencies or freelancing, working on projects for the likes of Nike, MTV, and NASA. In 2014, I was invited overseas to New York City to lead the design of a new product for Adobe. I then moved to WeWork to establish and lead their digital brand guidelines and design systems. In 2018, I wrote a book about design systems. And more recently, I was VP of Design at True Digital, a fintech startup in the US.

I am now a freelance principal designer and consultant, working with startups and Fortune 500 businesses to establish, design, and document design systems and reimagine existing — or create new — product suites.
