Kyle McVea: From YTV’s The Next Star SuperGroup to Solo Artist
Emerge Music: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Kyle McVea: I’m Kyle McVea, I’m 21 years old from a small town in New Brunswick called “Quispamsis”. That’s where I grew up and my family still currently lives there.
EM: You’re a singer/songwriter, how old were you when you started to have an interest in music? And, why?
KMcV: I started having an interest in music through video games, funny enough. I was playing some Disney skateboarding game and the band Simple Plan was playing on it and I would just jam for hours to one of their songs on that game. My mom researched the band and then got me tickets to their concert. The cool thing about that was that her work got her backstage passes, so I actually got to meet the band as well. I’d say that’s where my love for music came from. That was all in Grade 4 and it wasn’t until Grade 7 that I started writing and playing music for myself.
EM: What was the first tune you learned? How long did it take for you to master it?
KMcV: The first song I ever learned was “You and Me” by Lifehouse. I don’t recall it taking too long to learn as they were pretty standard basic

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, the talented girls behind Done with Dolls are your typical preteens—except for the fact that they spend their weekends touring and their music video receives constant airtime on the Family Channel!
Done With Dolls was formed in 2008 by sisters Kylie and Jordan Miller. The Miller sisters took an early interest in music and started writing songs and practicing their instruments together after school. After performing in a band with Megan and a group of guys, the girls decided to break off on their own, and enlisted the help of Eliza. The all-girl group became Done with Dolls.
Done With Dolls’ pop-punk tunes channel a serious Miley Cyrus-meets-Avril Lavigne vibe, but it is their fresh and unique songs like “Story of My Life” and “Sisters” that got the attention of famous artists and studio heads. Rumor has it Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida (who happens to be signed to the same label, Kingnoise Records) and his wife Chantal Kreviazuk are currently working with the band.
Leading Ladies:
* Jordan Miller (14) plays bass. She is always entertaining the group, whether it be through her constant clowning around or her love of drama. She’s a neat freak who enjoys reading horror books and taking bike rides.
* Kylie Miller (13) sings and plays guitar
