The Fund’s mission is to support small, preferably local initiatives toward the conservation and wise use of nature and our natural resource base. It focuses on work undertaken by organizations located in the Fund’s primary regions of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Organizations from other regions can qualify for support if there’s a substantial element of partnership with, and strengthening of, local partner organizations. The Fund uses the following criteria in determining grant awards: the clarity and urgency of the conservation case; the amount of funding and/or conservation action (policy, community work) catalyzed by their support; the direct contribution to the utilization and development of local capacity; and the mid- and long-term sustainability

    The Prince Bernhard Nature Fund is seeking applications for grants to support small, preferably local initiatives worldwide towards the conservation of endangered species (flora & fauna), or initiatives that in other ways promote the conservation and wise use of nature and our natural resources base.

    The Fund stimulates innovation and cooperation within the nature conservation sector, by challenging itself and others to think outside the box and to exchange opinions, thoughts and experiences.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To check your eligibility, please take note of the following main criteria:

    • The PBNF does not support individuals, only registered non-profits.
    • The PBNF aims to help save critically endangered flora and fauna. The urgency of your conservation case is directly related to the priority your project will receive. Therefore, always verify the conservation status of your focus species on the IUCN Red List. As a general rule of thumb, it can be said that you are eligible with a focus species that is at least classified as Vulnerable (VU), and receive a higher priority when
