One hundred years ago, on November 8, 1912, Bhagawat Prasad Singh was born in a remote village of Bihar, India. His aspirations for learning, for India’s independence from the British, for spiritual attainment and for complete surrender and dedication to his Master and Lord, Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, were the catalysts that propelled his idealistic life forward in India and America where “his work ended” his lifeless body lay prostrate before the shrine of his guru Sri Ramana in New York City on the morning of April 10th, 2000. Early Life
Ramana Maharshi was an Indian Sage; he was born on 30th December 1879 and died on 14th April 1950. He is also known as "Jivanmukta", which means liberated being. His real name was Venkataraman Iyer, but later, people started calling him Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. He was born in Tiruchuli, Tamil Nadu, India.
Ramana Maharshi was different from other children of his age. He was very young when he left his uncle's house and headed towards Arunachala. In Tiruvannamalai, he took the role of Sannyasins, and he remained there for the rest of his life.
